Among them, ozone is widely used in wastewater treatment for its strong oxidizing and efficient sterilization ability, especially in the deep treatment stage of wastewater.

Aeration: Aeration is an important part of sewage treatment, through the passage of gas (mainly air or pure oxygen) into the sewage, in order to increase the dissolved oxygen content in the sewage, promote the growth and reproduction of aerobic microorganisms, thereby accelerating the degradation of organic matter. Aeration methods include blast aeration, mechanical aeration and submersible mixing aeration.

Air flotation method: air flotation method using the gas into the water to produce a large number of tiny bubbles, so that the wastewater in the fine suspended particles adhering to the bubbles and with the bubbles floated to the surface of the water, so as to achieve the separation of pollutants. This method is widely used in the field of sewage treatment.

②Drinking water treatment

pH adjustment: In drinking water treatment, carbon dioxide is often used to adjust the acidity (pH) of the water. By injecting the right amount of carbon dioxide into the water, the pH of the water can be lowered, thus improving water quality and preventing scale formation.

Mineralization and remineralization: In order to adjust the hardness and mineral content of drinking water, carbon dioxide is also used in water softening and partial desalination processes. Through the reaction between carbon dioxide and minerals in the water, soluble bicarbonates can be generated, thus increasing the hardness and mineral content of the water.

③Water quality improvement

Dissolved oxygen increase: By passing gas (such as pure oxygen or air) into the water, the dissolved oxygen content in the water can be increased, which helps to improve water quality and promote the growth of aquatic organisms.

Decolorization and deodorization: Ozone and other strong oxidizing gases in the water can decompose organic matter that is difficult to biodegrade and substances that cause color and odor, thus improving the biochemistry of water and water quality.

④Water circulation and ecological protection

Oxygenation of water bodies: In natural water bodies such as lakes and rivers, through the introduction of gases (such as pure oxygen or air) into the water, the dissolved oxygen content of the water body can be increased, which helps to improve the water ecological environment and promote the diversity of aquatic organisms.

Ecological remediation: In polluted water bodies, the degradation of pollutants and the restoration of ecosystems can be accelerated by introducing specific gases (e.g., ozone) into the water or by utilizing gas-driven bioremediation techniques.

Gases are used in a wide range of lighting applications and play an indispensable role in modern lighting technology in particular. The following is a specific summary of the application of gas in lighting:

①Gas Discharge Lamp

Basic principle:

Gas discharge lamp is a kind of electric light source through the gas discharge will be converted into light energy. In the gas discharge process, the gas molecules or atoms are excited by electrical energy and emit light. According to the different forms of discharge, gas discharge lamps can be divided into various types, such as glow discharge lamps and arc discharge lamps.

Common types:

*Fluorescent lamps:

Fluorescent lamps are one of the most common gas discharge lamps, its luminous efficiency is 4-5 times that of incandescent lamps, and its life span is 3-8 times that of incandescent lamps. Fluorescent lamps are filled with inert gases (such as argon) and a small amount of mercury vapor, under the action of the electric field, the mercury vapor emits ultraviolet light, and the ultraviolet light then excites the phosphor to emit light.

*High-pressure mercury lamp:

High-pressure mercury lamp is also the use of gas discharge principle of work, its internal mercury vapor and inert gases, can emit a strong white light.

*Metal halide lamps:

Metal halide lamps are developed on the basis of high-pressure mercury lamps, by adding a variety of metal halides in the arc tube, so that these metal atoms involved in the luminescence process, so as to obtain higher light efficiency and better light color.

Role of gas:

In gas discharge lamps, inert gases (e.g. argon, helium) are mainly used to help start the discharge and act as buffer gases in the main discharge region to reduce ion losses, control electron mobility and conductivity, etc.

Specific metal vapors (such as mercury vapor) and halides are involved in the luminescence process, emitting a specific wavelength of light.

②Rare gas lighting

Xenon, as a rare gas, has important applications in the field of lighting. Due to its high brightness and stability, xenon is widely used in automobile headlights, TV backlighting, stage lighting and other fields. With longer life and lower energy consumption, xenon lamps are an important innovation in modern lighting technology.

Neon gas is also used to make neon lights and other lighting equipment. Neon lights emit red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet and other colors of light through gas discharge and are widely used in advertising, decoration and lighting.

③The application of gas in LED lighting

Although LED lighting itself does not directly rely on the principle of gas discharge, but in the LED packaging and manufacturing process, gas also plays an important role. For example, in the LED encapsulation process, inert gases (such as nitrogen) need to be used as a protective gas to prevent the LED chip from being oxidized and contaminated.
