Helium refrigerator uses a helium compressor to acquire high-pressure helium gases. Part of the high-pressure helium gases produces cold upon expansion in the turbo expander while the remaining high-pressure helium gases are cooled down stage by stage in the multi-stage heat exchangers. Finally, liquefied helium is acquired via a Joule Thomson throttling valve.
The liquefied helium is used to provide 4.5K constant-temperature cooling for user equipment and the evaporated helium gas returns back into the cold box of the refrigeration device for recycling purpose and such a refrigeration device is called helium refrigerator.

20K helium refrigerator adopts helium reverse turbine-Brayton cycle to realize the 20K Cooling. In a 20K helium refrigerator, the helium gas below 20K is used to provide cooling for the user’s equipment, and after cooling it returns to the cold box for the purpose of recovering the sensible heat and recycling.
Main equipment of 20K helium refrigerator includes compressor, oil removal system, 20K cold box, control system, helium buffer tank, etc. The 20K cold box is a vacuum insulated cold box which contains the multi-stage heat exchangers, turbine expanders, internal adsorbers, cryogenic valves and measuring elements.

Liquid helium dewar is designed in an optimal way to minimize the losses of liquid helium during storage, transport and distribution. High efficient multi-layer vacuum-insulated technology, Vapor cooled multi-shield technology and cryogenic condensation/adsorption based vacuum acquisition technology are adopted to effectively reduce the evaporation rate of liquid helium.
Structural Features
Liquid helium Dewar is made of austenitic stainless steel. In addition to standard dewar, dewar with bigger neck is available on demand to accommodate liquid helium transfer lines. It is also convenient for the test of superconductor electrode and the experiment that requires inserting or impregnating the test piece into liquefied helium.
No need for liquefied nitrogen shield
Durable and suitable for truck transport and frequent daily use
Extensively applied for the helium distribution, scientific research equipment cooling and factory liquefied helium storage
Integrated casters and base

Although some natural gas fields contain helium in China, the helium content is very low and therefore it is very costly to directly extract helium from natural gases. A composition test of the noncondensate gases generated during natural gas liquefaction and the BOG (boil-off gas) generated during LNG storage shows a helium content of over 1% which is valuable for extraction. For that reason,Fullcryo has developed the technology of LNG plant-based helium extraction from BOG which uses cryogenic distillation and cryogenic condensation method to recover LNG and acquire high-purity helium gases. It is an effective way for the comprehensive development of helium resources.
Cryogenic Helium Extraction Device From BOG in LNG plant (BOG-HED)
BOG-HED primarily includes helium liquefier, BOG compressor, BOG cold box, hydrogen removal system, control system, etc.
BOG-HED utilizes cryogenic separation method for helium extraction and liquefaction. Most methane is recovered through cryogenic distillation tower and the remaining mixture gases mostly include the nitrogen, helium and hydrogen. Then the mixtures are further cooled and most nitrogen in it is removed through condensate separation in order to produce the crude helium with a content of over 75%. Such crude helium is then subject to hydrogen-removal process through catalytic bed in order to acquire raw helium in a purity of over 95%. The raw helium then is fed to the internal freeze-out purifier inside the helium liquefier cold box where the gases impurities are frozen and removed and high-purity helium is acquired. Finally, helium is further liquefied in the liquefier.
Based on the BOG feeding flow rate and helium concentrate in it, we can provide specified BOG-HED which is suitable for extracting helium from BOG in a LNG plant with a capacity of over 500,000Nm³/d.

In 2020, Fullcryo, as the leading unit, jointly with 9 domestic advantageous units, under takes the national key research and development plan “renewable energy and hydrogen energy technology key special project” – key equipment and safety research project of liquid hydrogen production, storage and transportation and refueling, aiming to build 5T/D domestic liquid hydrogen production, storage and transportation, hydrogenation safety key technology and equipment innovation chain.
The large horizontal cold box is the core and key equipment of the project, which is the core and key equipment of the first domestic 5T/D large-scale hydrogen liquefaction plant designed by the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and manufactured by Fullcryo Company. The equipment successfully rolled off the production line in March 2023, marking the first time that we have broken through the key technology and integration innovation of large-scale hydrogen liquefaction plant in China New. It has laid a solid foundation for the demonstration of subsequent sets of large-scale 5T/D liquid atmosphere plants.
